Dr. K. Eleanor Ellis

Dr. K. Eleanor Ellis is a Postdoctoral Psychologist Resident seeking licensure this upcoming year. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the University of Tennessee Knoxville and her Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Middle Tennessee State University. She earned her PhD in Counseling Psychology at the University of Georgia.

Her internship experiences included work at the Cleveland VA working with veterans within short-term therapy treatment, within the PTSD Clinic, and the Women Veterans’ Addiction Recovery Center based on gender-based care. She has worked hard to become a well-trained generalist practitioner with knowledge and skills in a wide range of common mental health conditions and experiences. She has been specifically trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD and also has a wide variety of clinical experience with clients presenting with a myriad of presentations including depression, relationship issues/patterns, life transitions, work/life/school stress, multicultural, LGBTQ+, and other identity considerations and related stress, sexual assault, combat trauma, and other trauma responses, substance use, personality disorders, as well as many un-categorized experiences of clients that affect their inner and external worlds.

She believes in strengths-based assessment and therapy and is an advocate for broadening the dissemination of psychological knowledge, the acceptance of emotional expression, and encouraging knowledge and use of coping skills to a wider and all ages population (because we all need it!). Lastly, she believes in collaborative mental health care and therapy (i.e., collaboration with you!) as well as considering a whole person’s context in investigating why we do what we do and in what ways we are able to grow. She has been trained in several evidence-based practices (e.g., Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) as well as integrating these and others within less structured (or more structured!) treatment.

For a tad of personal info, she loves the outdoors, music, yoga, her orange cat, and values authenticity and trying.
