Maria Walton, PhD, LCSW, – Psychologist and Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Maria Walton earned a Master’s of Science in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin in 1996 after graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree from Vanderbilt University. She has been working as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 1998. In 2014, Maria earned a PhD from Tennessee State University, and she is currently also licensed as a Psychologist. Maria specializes in the treatment of depression, anxiety, trauma/PTSD, grief/loss, and women’s issues. Maria utilizes a psychodynamic approach in her work with clients, helping clients to identify and correct maladaptive patterns of relating with the self and others. Adjunctive therapies Maria utilizes include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Maria also provides psychological assessment services, including testing for bariatric surgical candidates, and diagnostic testing for conditions such as ADHD, mood disorders, and dementia.
